What Tastebook stores

Your meals and plans. Meal photos, titles, tags, notes, sources, week plans, and grocery items you create stay in your Apple account via iCloud (CloudKit), including when you share a household with one other person.

Your account. Sign in with Apple provides an identifier (and, if you choose to share it, a name and email — Apple may hide your email behind a private relay address).

Purchases. The one-time unlock is processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not see your full payment card details.

Device permissions. Camera and photo library access are used only when you choose to add a meal photo. You can deny either permission; those capture paths will not work until you allow them in iOS Settings.

Optional AI features

Generate Groceries and Smart Tidy can send the meal title, tags, and grocery list text you choose to process to Anthropic's Claude API so the App can suggest list items or tidy duplicates. This only happens when you tap those features. Core capture, browse, plan, and shop work without AI. Do not put information in meal titles or notes that you do not want processed for those suggestions.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your meal photos for advertising. We do not run third-party ad trackers in the App.

Sharing

Apple. Sign in with Apple, iCloud/CloudKit sync, push notifications, and In-App Purchase run through Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy.

Household partner. If you invite a second user, shared meal and plan data syncs to their device through iCloud sharing you control.

Anthropic. Only if you use the optional AI grocery tools, and only the text needed for that request.

Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Retention and deletion

Meal and plan data lives in your iCloud stores while you use the App. You can delete meals and related content inside the App. To stop using Tastebook, delete the App and, if you wish, remove related iCloud data via your Apple ID settings. Purchase records remain with Apple as required for the store.

Children

Tastebook is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the App if you are under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
